HSK
HSK 1.0 Version (1990s - early 2000s): The old HSK had 11 levels!
Basic Levels1-3
Elementary-Intermediate: Levels 3-8
Advanced: Levels 9-11
BC has been offering HSK preparation courses since our founding in 2007.
Even though HSK 1.0 was challenging, 48.6% of our students reached the Advanced level, and 62.5% achieved Level 8 or above. Our top students even scored Level 11.
HSK 2.0 Version (2009-2025): This is the HSK 1-6 system familiar to everyone in recent years (with Levels 7-9 added in 2022). BC students achieved a 99.5% pass rate after taking our courses. Highest HSK 6 score: 280+ Highest HSK 5 score: 290+ We have cases of students going from zero basics to passing HSK 6 in as little as 3 months!
HSK 3.0 Version (Starting late 2026):
Listening Speed
New Skills Tested HSK 2 adds a Writing section HSK 3 adds a Speaking section Reduced number of questions and shorter test duration. 
BC's Advice 1. Vocabulary requirements increase from the beginner levels. HSK 2 now includes Writing, meaning learners (especially English speakers) must study Chinese characters, making self-study more challenging. Guided courses are more targeted and accelerate your progress.
2. While the number of questions is reduced, the test time is also shorter—this isn't necessarily good news! As seen in the table above, listening speed increases, requiring faster answering. You must be very familiar with vocabulary and grammar, not just guessing.Our courses will familiarize you with test-taking strategies.
3. Some students want to memorize all vocabulary before practicing. This approach is not suitable! For example, HSK 4 vocabulary nearly doubles; you might not finish memorizing and still lack time for practice.Our courses provide a structured study plan for efficient preparation.
